This International Women’s Day (IWD), we embrace the 2025 theme, #AccelerateAction, to amplify the voices and achievements of women in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) ecosystem. From participants and support workers to business leaders, women are the backbone of this transformative network, breaking barriers and driving change.

Women at the Heart of NDIS

The NDIS provides a critical platform for empowering women with disabilities. It fosters their independence, builds resilience, and promotes active community participation. Women, who often face compounded barriers due to gender and disability, find a renewed sense of purpose and capability through tailored support plans that prioritize their unique needs.

Empowering Women as Participants

Every woman deserves the right to lead a fulfilling life. The NDIS champions this by offering opportunities for:

  • Skill Development: Empowering women to access education and career pathways through capacity-building supports.
  • Community Inclusion: Promoting social and cultural participation, which reduces isolation.
  • Health and Wellbeing: Facilitating access to therapies, health supports, and fitness programs.

Women as Change Agents

Women in caregiving roles and leadership positions are the unsung heroes of the NDIS. Support workers, coordinators, and executives play a pivotal role in designing and delivering services that truly make a difference.

  • Support Workers: With compassion and dedication, women in these roles ensure participants thrive in their environments.
  • Leadership: Female leaders in NDIS organizations are redefining business practices with inclusivity and innovation.
  • Advocacy: Women-led initiatives amplify the voices of those often unheard, driving systemic change.

Stories That Inspire

This Women’s Day, we celebrate trailblazing women who inspire us with their resilience and achievements. From participants launching small businesses to support workers creating innovative care strategies, these stories reflect the spirit of #AccelerateAction.

At Hands on People, we’re proud to champion women in every facet of our work. This IWD, we’re committed to:

Let’s work together to accelerate action, break down barriers, and build a world where women with disabilities not only survive but thrive.
