The Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) provides Australian veterans and widows/widowers with a range of services to help you stay at home for as long as possible. Hands on People is proud to be a Veterans’ Home Care (VHC) Program Provider.

Veterans Care at Hands on People

Hands on People is a devoted community organization specializing in delivering Nursing and Home Care services to eligible veterans in the comfort of their own homes.

This specialized program is intentionally designed to provide ongoing care for veterans with complex healthcare needs, forming an essential part of our comprehensive support system for our esteemed veterans. We take immense pride in our unwavering commitment to serving veterans.

At HOP, our primary objective is to ensure that all our clients are treated with the highest level of respect and dignity, receiving personalized, top-quality care that is customized to meet their unique needs.

Hands on People takes a personalized approach to care, creating Individualized Care Plans tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual we serve. These plans are designed to ensure that our clients receive the specific care and support they require, enhancing their well-being and quality of life.

Our veterans home care services include but not limited to:

The Veterans’ Home Care (VHC) Program provides:

  • Domestic Assistance: Assistance with domestic tasks such as household cleaning, dishwashing, laundry needs (clothes washing and ironing), Bed linen change, vacuuming and sweeping floors, mopping, dusting and shopping by list.
  • Personal Care: From showering to getting dressed, we provide gentle assistance to help you maintain your health, hygiene and dignity.
  • Safety-related home and Garden Maintenance: The focus of home & garden maintenance services is to assist in keeping the home safe and habitable by minimising environmental health and safety hazards that may impact on you in and around the home.  
  • Respite Care (in-home, residential, and emergency): Temporary relief provided to your carer or to you. This can be a valuable resource to support in home care and prevent carer burn out.

Our veterans community nursing services include but not limited to:

  • Day and Night Care: Around-the-clock care to ensure veterans receive continuous support and assistance.
  • Medication Assistance: Assistance with medication management to ensure veterans receive their prescribed treatments on time and as directed.
  • Wound Care: Expert wound care to promote healing and prevent infections, delivered with precision and care.
  • Catheter Care: Compassionate and skilled care for individuals requiring catheter management, ensuring comfort and hygiene.
  • End of Life Care: Thoughtful and sensitive care during end-of-life stages, providing both physical and emotional support to veterans and their families.
  • Personal Care: Assistance with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and more, tailored to each veteran’s specific needs.
